Zantac cancer lawsuits have been reviewed by the U.S. Judicial Panel on Multi-district Litigation (JPML). Upon due consideration, the JPML selected the Southern District of Florida as the venue in which Zantac cancer claims would be heard by the federal court system.
The Southern District of Florida is part of the 11th circuit of the U.S. court system, and appeals are heard by the 11th Circuit Court of Appeals.
Consolidation of the first 15 Zantac cancer lawsuits was done in accordance with 28 U.S.C. § 1407. Newly filed cases are expected to likewise be transferred to the Southern District of Florida.

Judge Robin L. Rosenberg Presides over Zantac Cancer Multi-District Litigation
Judge Robin L. Rosenberg has established a commendable career in the legal field, marked by her significant contributions to the judiciary and her educational background that laid the foundation for her success. Born on January 22, 1962, in West Palm Beach, Florida, Judge Rosenberg embarked on her academic journey at Princeton University, where she earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in 1983. She then furthered her education at Duke University, achieving both a Master of Arts degree and a Juris Doctor in 1989 from Duke University School of Law.
The start of her legal career was marked by her role as a law clerk for Judge James Carriger Paine of the United States District Court for the Southern District of Florida from 1989 to 1990. This experience was crucial in shaping her understanding of the judiciary and her approach to legal proceedings. Judge Rosenberg’s career spans various roles, including serving as a trial attorney in the Civil Rights Division of the United States Department of Justice, working for a nonprofit organization in the Czech Republic, and holding positions in private practice and as an assistant city attorney for the City of West Palm Beach, Florida.
Her judicial career took a significant turn when, on February 26, 2014, President Barack Obama nominated her to serve as a United States District Judge of the United States District Court for the Southern District of Florida, succeeding Judge Adalberto Jordan who was elevated to the court of appeals. Her nomination was confirmed unanimously by the Senate on July 22, 2014, and she assumed office on July 24, 2014.
